Overview
Kovalam is one of the oldest beach destinations in India, famous since the 1930s and revived by hippies in the 1970s. The village offers three beaches—Lighthouse, Hawa, and Samudra—with shallow waters and low tidal waves that attract many western visitors aged 40-60.
