Overview
Koplik sits on the edge of Lake Shkodra in northern Albania, serving as the trading hub and practical gateway to the rugged Malësia e Madhe ("Great Highlands"). The town of 3,700 people attracts hikers drawn to literary fame: early female anthropologist Edith Durham chronicled the region in High Albania, and it has been referenced by Lord Byron and Margaret Hasluck.
