Before you go
Connectivity
Wi-Fi is available at select establishments like Cha-Chai Home and PP Land Beach Resort, but connectivity is limited across the island.
Money
The local currency is Thai baht. Some places refill water bottles for roughly 5 baht per litre rather than buying new plastic bottles.
Safety
Do not drive motorbikes on the beach; rental agreements may include clauses resulting in 5,000 baht fines. Plastic pollution washes up during monsoon season.
Transport
Motorbikes are the main transport on the island. Rentals cost 150-200 baht/day, petrol 40-50 baht/litre. Motorbike taxis from pier to Ao Yai cost 70 baht.
Weather
Low season brings closed businesses and beach pollution from monsoon currents. High season (November-April) has more bars, restaurants, and diving operations active.
