Before you go
Connectivity
Thai SIM providers (AIS, TrueMove, DTAC) cover the island; buy a SIM in Pattaya before crossing. WiFi is available at some cafes and resorts but not on beaches.
Money
Thai baht is the currency. ATMs are not listed on Ko Lan; bring enough cash from Pattaya for food, transport, and activities. Most eateries and guesthouses are cash-only.
Safety
Ferry crossing can be rough on windy days. Monkey encounters at Naul Beach are benign if you keep food hidden. No major crime reported, but standard beach-vacation precautions apply.
Transport
Ferry costs 30 baht each way; speedboat adds 120-170 baht for the same trip. Last ferry back at 18:00 — plan accordingly or risk an unplanned night on the island.
Weather
Nov-Feb is best: cooler and drier. March-May is hot. June-Oct brings rain and possible choppy ferry conditions.
