Overview
Knaresborough is a compact, picturesque market town carved by the deep gorge of the River Nidd, four miles east of Harrogate. Its ruined Norman castle overlooks the river, the Victorian viaduct arches 80 feet above it, and the old town center has a Georgian square with a 17th-century timber-framed building.
