Culture
Kinmen identifies with Fujian province rather than Taiwan. Locals prefer being called Kinmenese or Chinese, not Taiwanese.
Money
Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is used. ATMs available in Kincheng and at 7-Eleven convenience stores. Maestro Wu's knives and kaoliang liquor are the most distinctive souvenirs.
Safety
Coastal areas and military zones are off-limits after dark. All landmines cleared in 2013 but report any found to military personnel.
Transport
Tourist buses Line A and B connect major sites. Local buses serve Kincheng to other townships. Rent a scooter for flexibility.
