Overview
Kınık exists as the modern gateway to two UNESCO World Heritage-listed ancient Lycian sites: Xanthos and Letoon. These ruins, dating from the 8th century BC through the Byzantine era, represent the religious and political heart of the Lycian federation.

Limited options in Kınık itself; most visitors stay in Patara (10 km south) or Kalkan (19 km north) with wider budget-to-midrange choices.

Turkey uses Turkish Lira (TRY). ATMs available in Kınık; carry some cash as smaller establishments may not accept cards.
Safety
Kınık is a quiet rural town with very low crime. Standard precautions for personal belongings at archaeological sites suffice.
Transport
Muttaş dolmuş run every 30 minutes between Fethiye and Kumlouva via Kınık. The D400 highway provides access by car or hitchhiking.
Weather
Summers are extremely hot (35°C+); visit in spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October) for comfortable 20-28°C exploration weather.
