Overview
Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park sits one hour north of Phuket on the Northern Andaman Coast, offering a dramatic contrast to the island's tourist chaos. The park encompasses two distinct ecosystems: a lush inland rainforest with two impressive waterfalls (Lampi at 40m and Ton Phri at 40m) and a 10km stretch of protected beach with Thailand's widest coral reef just 700m offshore.

Before you go
Connectivity
Mobile coverage is available from Thai providers. WiFi is limited; connectivity is better in Thai Mueang town or Khao Lak.
Health
Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and water for hikes. The mangrove areas may have mosquitoes. Basic first aid is available at park headquarters.
Money
The park entrance fee is 100 baht for foreigners. Bungalow accommodation costs 1,000 baht/night; tent camping is 200 baht/night. ATMs and exchange services are available in Thai Mueang town outside the park.
Safety
Strong currents exist along Thai Mueang Beach; heed warning flags. Poaching has been a problem at turtle nesting sites; the park patrols help protect nests. Road safety is a concern on Route 4's busy highway sections.
Transport
Route 4 (Phetkasem Road) passes directly by the park turnoff at km820. Rent a car in Phuket for flexibility, or take any Khao Lak-Phuket bus and ask to be dropped at the turnoff.
Weather
Visit December-April for dry season with clear skies and sea turtle nesting (Nov-Apr). May-October brings monsoon rains and strong winds but fuller waterfalls and fewer tourists.
