Overview
Kagoro (also called Gworok) is a large town in southern Kaduna State renowned for its dramatic mountainous scenery and cool highland climate. The town is the seat of one of the oldest chiefdoms in the area and offers cultural experiences centered around the annual Afan National Festival.

Afan National Festival takes place January 1 annually, celebrating the harvest and cultural heritage of Southern Kaduna. The Agworok people speak Tyap dialect.
Safety
Mountain hiking requires hunter guides due to sliding terrain. Paths to waterfalls have large tree roots; sports shoes or kicking boots recommended.

Kagoro is 210 km from Kaduna (3 hours by car) and 80 km from Jos. Taxis from Kaduna cost approximately US$80 (2021). The terrain is mountainous, requiring fit visitors for hiking attractions.
Weather
Cool highland climate with frequent rainstorms. Dry season December-April may reduce waterfalls to a trickle. Wet season offers more dramatic waterfall displays.
