Overview
Jim Corbett National Park is India's oldest national park, established in 1936, and remains a premier wildlife destination in the Himalayan Kumaon region. The park attracts over 70,000 visitors annually who come to spot tigers, elephants, deer, and over 600 bird species in dense sal forest and grasslands.

Before you go
Access
Park open mid-September to mid-June only. Main zones (Dhikala, Bijrani) closed June-November for monsoon.
Food
Non-vegetarian food and alcohol prohibited inside the park. Canteens available at rest houses and entrance gates.
Safari
Book jeep safaris in Ramnagar. Multiple days recommended for tiger sightings. Dhikala rest house stays improve early morning access.
Safety
No bright clothes, no solo walking at night or dawn, no food in Dhikala zone due to aggressive monkeys.
Transport
Access from Ramnagar (2-hour drive). Kotdwar is an alternative entry point for those with private vehicles.
Weather
Winters drop to 4°C; summers reach 44°C. Rainy season causes flooding and park closures.
