The local currency is Mozambican Metical (MZN/MZN). Credit cards are rarely accepted on the island—carry cash for most transactions.
Packing
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, light clothing for tropical heat, and modest dress for visiting religious sites.
Safety
Swimming is not advisable due to polluted harbor waters. Passport certification available in Lumbo for 50 MT.
Transport
Chapas (shared minibuses) connect the island to Nampula. Bikes can be hired locally. The concrete bridge links the island to the mainland.
