Overview
Ii is notable for its extremely short name—just two letters—and its ambitious goal to become the world's first zero-waste town, earning a climate prize from the European Commission. The town sits at the mouth of the Iijoki River, Finland's fourth longest, which provides scenic beauty and cultural significance (the famous author Kalle Päätalo wrote a series named after it).
