Overview
Ibusuki styles itself as the "Hawaii of Japan" with a peaceful, flowery atmosphere at the southeastern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula. The town's biggest claim to fame is its unique sand bath (sunamushi) experience, where you can be buried in steaming hot sand on the beach — a luxury spa treatment found almost nowhere else in the world.
