Overview
Hof (500m elevation) earned the nickname "Bavarian Siberia" for its cool climate and proximity to former East Germany and Czechoslovakia. The city was destroyed by fire in 1823 and rebuilt in a unified Biedermeier architectural style, giving it an unusually coherent town center.
