Permits
A permit is required for the Thorsborne Trail with a maximum of 40 persons allowed at any time. Reservations should be made months ahead during high season (May-October). Additional permits are required for Mt. Bowen summit trek (1121m ASL).
Safety
Saltwater crocodiles are present around the entire coast. Carry PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) and inform someone of your plans.

Weather
Visit May-October for pleasant weather. Wet monsoon season (November-April) brings reduced services and potential cyclones.
