Book well ahead during high season (May-Oct). Rocky Harbour is the main hub with hotels, B&Bs, and the park campground. B&Bs offer exceptional local hospitality.
Fees
Park fees: adult $11/day (May-Oct), $9/day (Nov-May). Annual passes available. Wilderness hiking trails cost $92-165 per person.
Food
Seafood is the specialty—try cod tongues at local restaurants in Trout River, Woody Point, and Rocky Harbour. Pub meals $9-13.
Transport
Car rental at Deer Lake Airport (1 hour from park). Marine Atlantic ferries from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques (6 hours) or Argentia (11 hours, seasonal).
Weather
Summer highs ~20°C, winter ~-5°C. Annual precipitation 1300+ mm. Weather changes rapidly on trails—always carry rain gear, water, and food.
Wildlife
Moose are common on roads, especially at dawn/dusk. Bear and caribou also present. Ask park staff about proper wildlife encounter protocols.
