Before you go
Booking
Advance booking is mandatory. Contact the Gola Conservation Centre to arrange permits, guides, food, camping gear, and accommodation before your visit.
Guides
All visitors must be accompanied by a park staff member and community guide at all times. Budget for guide fees as part of your park arrangement.
Money
Sierra Leone uses the Leone (SLL). Carry sufficient cash for park fees, guides, and village visits, as payment options are limited in the forest area.
Transport
The park is accessed via Lalehun, 40 km (1.5 hours) from Kenema. Transport options from Freetown or Bo require ground travel; confirm current road conditions before departing.
Weather
The Upper Guinean forest experiences wet and dry seasons. The best time for wildlife viewing is during the dry season when animals congregate near water sources.
