Overview

Giresun is Turkey's cherry capital—the ancient Greek kerasos gave us both the fruit name and the city's Roman moniker cerasus. The mountain slopes also produce one-third of the world's hazelnuts, and the city spreads along a beach strip beneath a Byzantine citadel.
