Overview

Gaud (also spelled Gouda) was the medieval capital of Bengal during the Sultanate period, and its ruins remain a significant archaeological site in Bangladesh. The town offers a rare glimpse into 15th-16th century Islamic architecture through its surviving mosques, madrasha, and gateways—many featuring intricate terracotta ornamentation.
