Overview
Gashaka Gumti is Nigeria's largest national park, established in 1991, spanning the border region between Nigeria and Cameroon in the northeastern states of Taraba and Adamawa. The park offers a rare combination of pristine wilderness: lush rainforests, sweeping grasslands, cool highland plateaus, and rugged mountains including Nigeria's highest peak, Gangirwal at 7,936 ft.

Mobile coverage is available but unreliable. MTN and Airtel are the most dependable networks. Consider multiple SIM cards for backup.
Food
Bring all food supplies. Only Serti Tourist Camp has a restaurant; other camps require self-catering. No shops exist inside the park.
Packing
Bring sturdy hiking boots, mosquito repellent, water purification tablets, headlamp, camping gear, and multiple days of food supplies.
Safety
Complete all activities before nightfall. Hire local guides for wildlife areas. Carry first aid supplies and emergency provisions.
Transport
No public transport reaches the park. Visitors need private vehicles or charter flights from Yola. The Serti airstrip accommodates small aircraft. Roads are unpaved in many sections.
Weather
Dry season (December-March) offers best wildlife viewing. Wet season makes trails muddy. Temperatures range 21-32.5°C year-round.
