Overview
Fouman (also spelled Fuman) is a city of 36,000 people near the foothills of the Talysh Highlands in northern Iran's Gilan Province. It serves as the capital of Fuman County and functions primarily as a transit stop for travelers heading to the UNESCO World Heritage-nominated village of Masuleh, 36 km to the west.
