Overview
Fordlândia is a one-of-a-kind historical curiosity: an entire American town plucked into the Amazon jungle and then abandoned. Founded by Henry Ford in the late 1920s to grow rubber for his car company, the project failed spectacularly—workers resented the imposed American lifestyle, and nature proved uncooperative.
