Overview
Fertőd is best known for the Esterházy Palace, sometimes called the "Hungarian Versailles" – Hungary's grandest Rococo edifice. The town serves as a base for exploring the Fertö/Neusiedlersee Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the well-developed bike paths that wind around Lake Neusiedl with hardly any traffic.
