Overview
El Tajin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Totonac civilization built sacred pyramids and ceremonial ball courts from around AD 100 to 900. The site is famous for its intricate carvings and the mesmerizing Voladores ritual, where performers slowly spin down from a tall pole while attached to ropes.

Health
The humid climate means mosquitoes are prolific throughout the site. Bring insect repellent to avoid bites. The walk from the ticket office to the furthest building is about 800 m.
Money
Be aware of unauthorized parking attendants near the entrance who may try to charge M$50; the legitimate donation is M$20. Pay only the official fee to avoid overcharging.
Transport
Frequent buses run to El Tajin from Poza Rica and Papantla. The site is also reachable by car via a direct road. Parking is available near the entrance.
Weather
Veracruz is humid year-round. Visit early morning to avoid the midday heat. The site can get crowded on weekends with Mexican tourists.
