Overview
El Imposible is the largest national park in El Salvador, protecting one of the world's most endangered ecosystems. The 5,000-hectare park features dense dry tropical rainforest rich in biodiversity, excellent hiking trails, and an archaeological site with ancient petroglyphs (stone carvings).

Money
Entrance fee is US$6 for foreigners, camping is US$6 extra. Prices are in USD, not local colón.
Packing
Bring plenty of water, sturdy hiking shoes, and insect repellent. The dry tropical forest can be hot and humid during the day.
Transport
Chicken bus route 259 from Sonsonate to Cara Sucia runs every 10 minutes, taking 90 minutes and costing under US$2. A taxi from Cara Sucia to the park takes about 10 minutes.
Weather
Best visited on weekdays when fewer local families are present. Dry season (November-April) offers easier trail conditions.
