Overview
Egmont National Park (Maori: Te Papakura o Taranaki) was established in 1900 as New Zealand's second national park, centered on the symmetrical stratovolcano of Mount Taranaki. The park offers accessible day hiking to the summit and ski areas on the eastern slopes, with the added draw of free entry unlike many international parks.
