Overview
Dunoon is the only town on the Cowal peninsula, 30 miles from Glasgow yet cut off by sea lochs. It serves as the gateway to Argyll Forest and the Arrochar Alps, with a Victorian promenade, Benmore Botanic Garden, and castle ruins scattered around the peninsula.

Transport
Ferry from Gourock to Dunoon is the quickest approach from Glasgow (30 min). Buses are limited on weekends and evenings. A car is helpful for exploring Cowal peninsula.
Weather
Cowal peninsula has mild but wet Scottish weather. Summer temperatures are comfortable for walking; winters are quiet but dark early. Bring waterproofs year-round.
