Gourock is primarily a ferry gateway rather than a destination in its own right. Most travelers pass through to catch ferries across the Firth of Clyde to Dunoon and the Cowal peninsula.

Transport
Gourock is a railway terminus on the Glasgow suburban network; ScotRail runs every 30 minutes from Glasgow Central (50 min journey). CalMac ferries depart for Dunoon throughout the day.
