Overview
Douliu (斗六) is the county seat of Yunlin County with a population of 108,000 (2022). While located in one of Taiwan's least touristy regions and not a destination in its own right, it serves as a useful transit hub between major attractions.

Culture
The city preserves Japanese colonial-era architecture including buildings on Taiping Street and the former Police Dormitory now operating as a cafe.
Food
Night markets operate on specific days: Ren Wen (Tu, Sa) and Zhuangjing (W, Sa). Restaurant streets include Minsheng South Road, Zhongshan Road, and Taiping Road.
Shopping
No shopping mall exists in Douliu, but 24-hour convenience stores (7-Eleven, Family Market) are plentiful throughout the city.
Transport
Douliu station is the main rail hub connecting Taichung (north) and Chiayi/Alishan (south). The city is compact enough to explore on foot.
