Overview
Dargaville is a small Northland town best known as the kumara (sweet potato) capital of New Zealand, where the vast majority of the country's crop is grown. It sits at the heart of kauri country, surrounded by the giant native trees that once dominated the region, and is linked to the history of kauri gum—fossilised resin once harvested for varnish and decorative items.
