Overview
Dalanzadgad is a utilitarian provincial capital of 25,000 people (2017) in southern Mongolia's Ömnögovi province. It's not an attractive destination in its own right—dusty roads and black smoke from the power station characterize the town.

Activities
Camel riding arranged through hotels or direct negotiation with locals. Town is primarily a base for organizing Gobi Desert jeep tours and multi-day excursions.
Food
Hotels have restaurants; Marvel Pub offers draft beers. Limited nightlife. Stock up on supplies before desert excursions.
Money
Mongolian tugrik (₮) is the local currency. Bring cash from Ulaanbaatar as ATMs may be limited. Budget approximately 50,000-80,000₮ per day for basic travel.
Transport
Daily buses to/from Ulaanbaatar at 08:00 and 16:00 (10 hours, ~28,000₮). Minibuses also available but slower with frequent breakdowns. Local taxis 1,000₮ anywhere in town.
Weather
Cold desert climate: winters drop to -19°C, summers reach 29°C. Best visited May-September. Extreme temperature swings year-round.
