Overview
Cromwell, originally known as 'The Junction', is a historic gold rush town in central Otago that expanded rapidly after gold was discovered nearby in 1862. The town sits at the confluence of the Clutha and Kawarau Rivers, surrounded by picturesque landscapes where both rivers have cut beautiful gorges.
