Overview
Costești is a small town of approximately 10,000 people in Argeș County, Muntenia, Romania. The town preserves traces of habitation dating back to before the Roman conquest of Dacia, with archaeological finds including a Roman denarius issued by Emperor Domitian discovered in 1966.

History
The town preserves pre-Roman traces, medieval documentation from 1535, and is remembered for the tragic April 18, 1930 church fire that claimed 116 lives, mostly children.
