Overview
Comodoro Rivadavia is the largest city in Chubut province and serves as the cultural and economic hub of southern Patagonia. The city was founded in 1901 as an agricultural port but transformed when petroleum was discovered in 1907, attracting immigrants from Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru.

Safety
High inequality has led to high crime rates. Avoid poorer neighborhoods, especially at night. Do not walk through western neighborhoods after dark when heading to El Chenque hill.
Transport
The bus to Rada Tilly runs every 30 minutes. Buses also connect to Caleta Olivia, Puerto Madryn, Trelew, and inland destinations. General Enrique Mosconi International Airport handles domestic flights.
Weather
Best beach weather from January to March with water temperatures of 15-20°C. Spring is windy, especially October. Summers are warm; winters are cool.
