Overview
Clifden is a small Victorian town of just 1,250 permanent residents on the northwest coast of County Galway, but its population swells dramatically in summer as the main commercial and tourist centre for Connemara. The town grew up as a harbour and market town, later developing into a coastal resort with its distinctive 19th-century architecture.
