Culture
Civita was the center of the Faliscan empire, contemporaries of the Etruscans, conquered by Rome in 241 BC. Local building material is tufa, with the region full of tufa cliffs and gorges.

Packing
Bring comfortable walking shoes for cobblestone streets and hiking trails. The area has excellent ceramics—bring padding for transport if purchasing.
Transport
Take state railways from Tiburtina/Trastevere (not Termini) to Borghetto station, or drive 60 km north from Rome via SS2bis and SS311. Daily tickets cost €9 return.
