Puerto Rico uses US dollars. Credit cards are accepted at some establishments in the pueblo but expect to pay cash at local eateries, small shops, and rural attractions. ATMs available in the main town area.
Transport
A rental car is essential for exploring Ciales and reaching mountain attractions. Roads are winding and sometimes narrow in the mountainous areas. Gas stations are available along Route 149.
Weather
Hot and humid year-round. Visit November-April for best conditions. Hurricane season runs June-November. Temperatures often exceed 30°C in summer.
