Overview
Chignahuapan is a scenic highlands town in Puebla state, designated one of Mexico's Pueblos Magicos for its colorful downtown core, baroque colonial church, and proximity to natural attractions. The town of 20,000 residents is most popular as a weekend destination for Mexican tourists drawn to the famous axolotl museum, a unique 16th-century church facade blending Spanish and indigenous motifs, and day trips to Quetzalapa Waterfall and Almoloya Lagoon.
