Overview
Changzhi is a historic city in southeast Shanxi Province, one of the original 36 administrative areas under China's first emperor. Surrounded by mountains on the Loess Plateau, it offers a slower pace than major tourist hubs with access to dramatic gorges, ancient temples, and outdoor adventures.

Changzhi East high-speed railway station opened 2020 with frequent connections. Changzhi Airport (CIH) serves regional domestic routes. Local buses 5, 5A, 14, 101, 102, and Tourist Bus 1 cover major sites.
Weather
Continental monsoon climate with cold winters (-9°C January) and warm summers (up to 28°C July-August). Most rainfall June-August. Best seasons for travel are spring and autumn.
