Overview
Castel Goffredo is a small Lombard town of 13,000 people with a remarkably deep history, from Bronze Age settlements (1800-1200 BC) through Roman times to its role as capital of a small Gonzaga state in the 16th century. The town gained city status in 2002 and hosts a lively Carnival based on the characteristic mask of the Dumpling King (Re Gnocco).
