Overview
Caraz is one of the few places in Peru that has escaped earthquake destruction, preserving its colonial charm with red-tailed roofs, ornate balconies, narrow streets, and colorful plazas. At 2,270 m elevation, it sits near the Cordillera Blanca range and serves as the ideal base for preparing multi-day treks or enjoying day hikes in Huascarán National Park.
