Overview
Bothnian Sea National Park is Finland's maritime treasure in the northern Baltic Sea, established in 2011 to preserve underwater nature and pelagic bird nesting sites. About 98% of the 160-km-long park is sea, with bays, islands, islets, and skerries notable for abundant birdlife and grey seals.

Before you go
Money
Finland uses the euro (€). Card payments are widely accepted, but bring some cash for small island cafés and excursion harbours that may be cash-only.
Packing
Bring water, food for day trips, insect repellent for ticks, non-slip footwear for wet rocks, and all waste bags to pack out trash.
Transport
Most of the park is accessible only by boat. Join guided tours from Pori, Rauma, Uusikaupunki, or Merikarvia. Only Preiviikinlahti in Pori and areas in Merikarvia are reachable by car.
Water
Natural water in the park is generally not potable. Check for taps on islands, otherwise bring your own water or purchase from cafés.
Weather
Check mariners' weather forecasts before island trips. Wind conditions at sea can differ significantly from mainland—light wind inland may mean gales at sea.
