Overview
Bontebok National Park is a compact wildlife sanctuary protecting South Africa's endemic bontebok antelope, which was once reduced to just 17 individuals. The park offers a quieter alternative to larger Kruger-type parks, with over 200 bird species and access to the Cape Floral Kingdom—the smallest yet most diverse floral kingdom globally.

The park is open year-round. Spring (September-November) offers wildflower blooms in the fynbos. Summer can be hot; winter brings cooler temperatures and better game viewing as vegetation thins.

Basic shop for essentials; full groceries and restaurants require a trip to Swellendam.
Park fees
Park entrance fees apply for SANParks members and non-members; check SANParks website for current rates.
Roads
All internal roads are gravel. A standard 2WD vehicle is sufficient, but drive slowly on the unpaved surfaces.
