Overview
Boa Vista is the most easterly island of Cape Verde, lying 450 km west of Senegal in the Atlantic. It's arid with white sand dunes and good beaches, making it one of the principal tourist destinations of Cape Verde with direct flights from Europe.

4G coverage limited to Sal Rei, airport, and nearby beach strip from CVMovel. Unitel T+ has patchy signal. No coverage elsewhere on the island.
Food
Water is desalinated and safe but tastes flat; bottled water recommended. Imported goods make food and drinks pricey at resorts.
Money
Euro (€) is widely accepted. Credit cards work at resorts but cash is needed in Sal Rei. Airport Security Fee of €30 required for all international arrivals.
Transport
No public bus service exists on Boa Vista. Taxis and minibuses operate along the main loop road. Car rental is recommended for exploring beyond Sal Rei.
Weather
Arid climate year-round. Diving season is April-November only. Winter months (December-March) can be rough for sea activities.
