Overview
Beigan (北竿; Běigān) is a small outlying island in the Matsu archipelago off Taiwan's west coast, directly facing mainland China across the Taiwan Strait. The island preserves a quieter, more rural atmosphere than its neighbor Nangan, with traditional stone houses, coastal temples, and Cold War-era military installations.
