Baoshan Yunrui Airport has flights from Kunming and several major cities. Train service from Kunming, Chuxiong, and Dali via Dali-Ruili Railway opened July 2022.

Winter months (November-February) best for birdwatching at Qinghuahai National Wetland Park. Spring and autumn offer comfortable temperatures for sightseeing.
