Overview

Baoding is a mid-sized city in Hebei Province that served as the political nerve of Zhili Province during the Qing Dynasty, when the Viceroy of Zhili oversaw the territory surrounding Beijing. Today it draws visitors to its remarkably well-preserved Qing-era administrative buildings, several excellent museums, and the nearby Western Qing Tombs—a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the graves of four Qing emperors.
