Overview
Bakhchysarai was the political and cultural heart of the Crimean Tatar Khanate from the 15th to 18th centuries, and its grand Khan's Palace remains the only Crimean Tatar palace still standing. The town offers a rare window into Crimean Tatar heritage — from artisan workshops to traditional water-pipe lounges — while serving as a base for exploring dramatic cave cities like Chufut Kale and Mangup Kale.
