Before you go

Connectivity

Internet access may be limited in smaller Venezuelan towns like Anaco. SIM cards and mobile data availability should be confirmed with local providers upon arrival.

Culture

Spanish is essential—very few locals speak English. Show patience and respect when communicating. Try speaking some Spanish phrases, which locals appreciate. Use 'no tengo nada, gracias' to politely decline beggars.

Health

Buy bottled water to avoid stomach issues. Be cautious with expired foods and aged cheeses. Adjust to local foods gradually as diarrhea is common among newcomers.

Money

Venezuela's currency is the bolívar. Credit cards are not widely accepted outside major cities. Carry sufficient cash and keep it concealed to avoid attracting attention from beggars and thieves.
