Before you go
Connectivity
Airtel works at tourist attractions but not in central Amboli town. Two public phone booths on the highway provide backup communication.
Food
Local Maharashtrian snacks like Kanda-Bhaji and Vada Pav are available at hill stalls. Vithal's Kamath near Sunset Point offers mountain views with meals.
Money
Amboli is entirely cash-based—no hotels, restaurants, or shops accept cards. Two ATMs (BOI and Sindhudurg Bank) are available in town. Carry sufficient cash for your entire stay.
Safety
Remote viewpoints require travel on poorly maintained roads. Cellular coverage is unreliable in town. Standard mountain road precautions apply.
Transport
Amboli is reached by bus or private vehicle from Karnataka, Goa, or Maharashtra. Getting around requires private transport or motorbike to reach scattered viewpoints.
Weather
Monsoon season (June–July) brings the highest rainfall in Maharashtra, creating spectacular waterfalls. Non-monsoon months are quieter with a relaxed atmosphere.
